Pride is all about self-expression, and people attending Pride events have the freedom to express themselves however they see fit—sometimes for the first time in their lives.
One of the best ways to express your inner Pride is through your outfit! It’s a great way to be part of the parade, make a statement, and feel super confident about being your true and honest self.
However, choosing what to buy can be tricky!
1. Lots of Glitter
Glitter is more than just a cute addition to your outfit! It’s now an iconic staple at Pride events, a must-have for attendees, and it looks amazing!
Choose colours that represent your flag, or use all your favourite colours for a bright addition to your outfit.
There are so many ways to use glitter at Pride. You could:
- Put it on your face in replace of highlighter
- Use a stencil and make glitter tattoos on your body
- Sprinkle it on your clothes to give them a little extra sparkle
We recommend using biodegradable glitter to be kinder to the planet while you enjoy your Pride celebration!
2. Pride Flags
You can’t go to a Pride event without your trusty Pride flags!
Choose a huge Pride flag to wear like a cape or wave a smaller ones.
A flag is a great way to show your alliance, whether you’re part of the community or a supportive ally.
A Pride flag can help you connect on the day and have fun conversations with community members. It’s also a great way to express yourself and your sexuality proudly!
3. Rainbow Wristbands
Many Pride organisers and supporters will sell wristbands on the day, with all the proceeds going to LGBTQIA+ charities. You can also find wristbands from other stores in the lead-up to Pride, and they are a great way to show your support for the cause in a subtle way.
There are also special ally wristbands to show your alliance with the community.
4. Comfortable T-Shirt
You need to be comfortable when you’re heading to a Pride festival!
You might be jumping around on the dance floor or walking in the Pride march, so you must be super comfortable.
T-shirts are a cheap and easy fashion choice; you could even decorate your T-shirt with a colourful Pride design.
5. LGBTQIA+ Badges
An easy way to accessorise your Pride outfit is to use badges and stickers to add that extra bit of colour.
LGBTQIA+ or Pride badges are also a great way to show your support for the community.
You could choose a simple rainbow design or pick the flag of your choice.
6. Umbrella
If you’re heading to a UK Pride event, you may need an umbrella with the unpredictable weather!
If you’re going on a Pride march or visiting an outdoor Pride event, pop an umbrella in your bag as a handy Pride event essential.
There are lots of rainbow and LGBTQIA+ umbrellas to choose from. That way, you can shelter from the rain and show your support for the community at the same time.
Don’t let the rain dampen your Pride celebrations!
7. Rainbow Bag
Pride festivals can be busy places, so it’s a good idea to find a bag that will keep your essentials safe on the day.
Choose a rainbow backpack or tote bag to keep your possessions safe. Remember to pack your bag full of important essentials, such as suncream, water, and snacks.
8. Feather Boa
No Pride event outfit would be complete without a beautiful feather boa! This is the perfect accessory to throw on over your amazing outfit, or you could wave it in solidarity on the big day.
9. Rainbow Water Bottle
If you’re going to an outdoor Pride event, you need to make sure to hydrate! A rainbow water bottle will help you stay hydrated throughout the day without taking away from the exciting ambience of the day.
There will be many opportunities to buy refreshments during the day or evening, but having your own water bottle always helps, especially if you are on a budget.
It helps the environment to use a reusable water bottle, too!
10. Whistle
A whistle is an essential Pride event! Wearing a whistle around your neck gives you the chance to show your support for any speakers, performances, and chants when appropriate.
Pride events can be busy and very loud places- so it never hurts to have a noisy way to show your support, as well as waving your flag as much as possible.
Just remember to follow any instructions about quieter times during the march!
